Held in beautiful Georgetown, Texas, the GTX FILM FESTIVAL promotes independent films and artists in our community, across the United States, and abroad through a top tier film festival and conference, educational events, and collaborations.
GTX FILM FESTIVAL stresses good visual storytelling and continues to focus on the basics of filmmakingβphotography, directing, producing and editingβand how well these elements are executed in each film.
The festival is located in downtown Georgetown, Texas – just 30 miles north of Austin. While attending the festival, you can enjoy shopping, dining, music, and local hospitality on The Most Beautiful Town Square in Texas.
This year’s festival will be held September 16 through September 19, 2021.

Narrative Feature
- Narrative film over 40 minutes in length.
- Films in this category compete for the prestigious Best Narrative Feature Film awards.
Narrative Short
- Short films under 40 minutes in length.
- Films in this category compete for the prestigious Best Narrative Short Film awards.
Documentary Feature
- Documentary film over 40 minutes in length.
- Films in this category compete for the Best Documentary Film awards.
Mobile Short
- Short Films made with Mobile Media devices that are under 30 minutes in length.
- Films in this category compete for the prestigious Best Mobile Short Film awards.
Texas Made Film
- Texas-Made Feature Films that are over 40 minutes in length.
- Films must be created in the state of Texas.
- Films in this category compete for the prestigious Best Texas-Made Feature Film awards.
Texas Made Short
- Texas-Made Short Films that are under 40 minutes in length.
- Films must be created in the state of Texas.
- Films in this category compete for the prestigious Best Texas-Made Short Film awards.
Student Film
- Student Made Films that are over 40 minutes in length.
- Filmmakers must be enrolled in High School or College for the full 2020-21 academic year to be eligible to submit.
- Films in this category compete for the prestigious Student Feature Film awards.
Student Short
- Student Made Short Films that are under 40 minutes in length.
- Filmmakers must be enrolled in High School or College for the full 2020-21 academic year to be eligible to submit.
- Films in this category compete for the prestigious Student Short Film awards.
Youth Short
- Youth Made Short Films that are under 10 minutes in length.
- Filmmakers who are age 18 and under, and enrolled in grade school (Elementary through High School) for the full 2020-21 academic year are eligible to submit.
- Films in this category compete for the prestigious Youth Short Film awards.
- Submissions by Youth students are FREE.
- LIMIT of 2 submissions.
